  2. Dear Family of Prof. Morris Srebnik,

With deep sorrow and extreme sadness, I received the sad news of the loss of a great man, scientist and mentor… that I loved and admired so much… the man who introduced me to science … and seeded in me love of science and seek for truth… My Great Mentor, Professor MORRIS SREBNIK.

I met Prof. Srebnik in 1996 when I was a first year student in the School of Pharmacy, when he taught me organic chemistry, and soon I was attracted to his scientific brilliance. He took me to work as an undergraduate in his Lab for five years, and I continued for MSc and PhD under his supervision. In total, I was under his supervision for 11 year continuously, and as he used to tell me, I am his son-in-science.

In addition, in 2003, he was the one who introduced me to a young first-year pharmacy student- Fidaa- that he brought her to work in his lab, as he found scientific brilliance in her and she reminded him in me, and he wanted to repeat “the successful experience”. Two year later, we got married, and we have a daughter. He has the credits also for introducing me to my wonderful wife that she loved him and admired him so much.

I feel so lucky that I met him two weeks ago, when I came back to Israel for a short visit; we talked for almost two hours, about everything in my life; possible collaboration, my scientific career, my family and many other things.

Again, it is my deepest sorrow and sadness to hear this news.

May You Rest in Peace My professor…

  3. Dear Family of Prof. Morris Srebnik

I was dismayed to hear about my dear PhD and life advisor Prof. Morris Passing. I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt sympathy to all his family and friends.

I first met Prof. Morris on Nov 2001 when I was introduced to him by my friend’s husband. I was then looking forward to start my PhD studies in Medicinal chemistry. I will never forget our first meeting when I was under pressure answering questions from the meeting committee. I wasn’t so sure if I meet their standards and so I was so stressed. He was able to read me and said: "It doesn’t matter what you know, what really matters that you have the motivation to learn". Since that moment I gained back my self assurance, and I always remembered his words and it helped me gain self confidence for life. Only after his words, I realized that I do have what really matters “Motivation and Ability to Learn”.
As I am sure this is a great loss to his family, it is a great loss to all his students as well.

My heart and thoughts go out to you during this difficult time.

    With Deepest Sympathy,

    Khuloud,
